About the Art +
A bold, high-contrast black silhouette meets a vibrant madras-like plaid field in this portrait-format print, where yellow, green, pink, blue, red, and orange pulse against deep black. The figure’s yellow-and-black striped top, matching headwrap, and coordinated plaid clutch create a confident, fashion-forward presence with a quilted, stitched texture that reads like textile made graphic.
Rooted in diasporic dress traditions, the layered checks and headwrap speak to heritage carried through fabric, pattern, and personal style. By reducing facial detail to silhouette, the work shifts focus to collective memory and cultural identity - colour as language, and textile as archive.
Printed as an open-edition digital artwork on museum quality matte paper, the finish keeps the colours saturated while softening glare for clean, gallery-ready viewing. The contemporary, textile-inspired composition highlights crisp edges, strong contrast, and the tactile look of stitched surfaces.
This unframed poster features a vertical layout and is easy to integrate on walls at home, in the office, or in a studio. It arrives without hanging hardware, allowing you to mount or frame it to fit your space and preferred display.
